Generally, the temples have a square or rectangular plan and are composed of three main parts: an assembly hall, ambulatory, and cells. The hall serve as a meeting place and a place of worship. The ambulatory is where worshipers walk in a clockwise fashion while praying. Our trip to Xi Chiong Shi Temple (西琼寺) Part 1

Last month, we went on a privilege trip to China and witness small opening ceremony of Xi Chiong Shi Temple. It is rare to see a new temple open these days. Xi Chiong Shi Temple (西琼寺) is situated on one of the most historical Buddhist land in China. It is also the meditation site of Padmasambhava also known as Guru Rinpoche (莲花生大师). This temple belongs to the Nyingma Sect (宁玛巴派,སྔ་འགྱུར་རྙིང་མ།). It is one of the oldest tradition of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism (the other three being the Kagyu, Sakya and Gelug).
